Description
The importance of heavy metals testing
Heavy metals testing will identify any potential contamination, such as arsenic, lead, cadmium and mercury, in products that can be harmful to consumers if consumed. Pollutants from industry, pesticides from agriculture and vehicle exhaust fumes, can increase levels of metals in the environment resulting in contamination of the soil and water supply. Plants absorb heavy metals and other compounds from the soil. As hemp has a special ability to absorb these contaminates from the soil, it is important to test CBD products.
Testing for impurities
Our lab technicians will test quantitatively for 23 different metal impurities, which can be the result of plant cultivation or the manufacturing process. These are: aluminium, arsenic, boron, cadmium, calcium, chromium, copper, iron, lead, magnesium, manganese, mercury, molybdenum, nickel, phosphorous, silicon, silver, sodium, sulphur, tin, titanium, vanadium, and zinc.
The following will be identified for each type of product analysed:
- TPD e-liquids emissions – metals and silicates
- CBD and hemp productions – metal contamination
- medicinal cannabis products – metal contamination
- traditional herbal medicines (THRs) – metal contamination
- foods / water / soil / environmental – metal contamination.
