Following the UK leaving the European Union on 1 January 2021, cosmetic products – including those with CBD or hemp based ingredients – require re-registering.
If you make cosmetic products, which are available to consumers in Great Britain, you are required to notify your cosmetic products using the UK’s own Submit Cosmetic Product Notification Portal (SCNP). Products already notified on the EU’s Cosmetic Product Notification Portal (CPNP) must be notified on the SCNP no later than 31 March 2021.
Managing Director of European Industrial Hemp Association, Lorenza Romanese, said ‘The notification procedure for cosmetics in the UK has changed since 1st January 2021. This means that all companies that are currently marketing their cosmetics products in UK are required to reregister in the UK.’

A deadline slightly further in the future is 31 December 2022 – by which time all product packaging must bear the name and address of the UK Responsible Person.
