Do you know your 10ml packaging regs? There is a common mistake people are making...
10ml packaging regs
As 10ml bottle of e-liquids sales start to climb here in the UK, we have seen clients refreshing their 10ml ranges, and in some cases re-launching them after some time off the market. But there are some anomalies to the 10ml packaging regulations. One common mistake that we are seeing, is placing the TPD/TRPR warning on the bottle when a product is sold in a box. This is an old regulatory anomaly that we at ADACT are well aware of as we have been helping companies with their TPD/TRPR compliance since 2015.In a nutshell - for bottles sold exclusively in a single box - the box is the unit pack and must have the TPD WARNING! The TPD warning must be 30% of the front and back panels. The bottle inside does not need this, freeing up valuable branding space.
Introducing Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP)
The Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation 1272 was introduced in 2008 to ensure there is a high level of protection of health and environment in the EU. One of its main aims is to determine whether a substance / mixture displays properties that lead to a hazardous classification. When toxicological data meets the classification criteria, the hazards of a substance / mixture are identified by assigning a certain hazard class and category.Once a substance or mixture is classified, the identified hazards must be communicated to other in the supply chain, including consumers. Hazard labelling allows the hazard classification, with labels and safety data sheets, to be communicated to the user of a substance or mixture, to alert them about the presence of a hazard and the need to manage the associated risks.CLP sets detailed criteria for the labelling elements: pictograms, signal words and standard statements for hazard, prevention, response, storage and disposal, for every hazard class and category. It also sets general packaging standards to ensure the safe supply of hazardous substances and mixtures.Resource: https://adactmedical.com/product/clp-classification-labelling-packaging-review/
