ADACT’s advice has always been to only notify in the countries where you plan to sell your products for simplicity. Now there is another reason to do this, with the first countries requiring additional payment for processing Poison Centre Notifications (PCNs) in their own domestic market.
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) have advocated a minimal charge for PCN’s to encourage compliance. As such, Hungary has introduced a charge for processing notifications in their country. The additional cost for this is approximately £38 per SKU depending on current exchange rates.
ADACT’s Chief Regulatory Officer, Damien Bové, said “We have seen a number of companies tackling central poisons by generating Unique Formula Identifier (UFI) codes, but not making the accompanying filing. While we have have not seen any enforcement in this area, ADACT would advise strongly against this as it’s clearly fraudulent and will only end in trouble.”
