Our pesticides screening will detect if multi-residue pesticides are present in products, such as CBD and hemp. We use a liquid chromatograph mass spectrometry (LCMS) instrument to accurately measure over 230 specific pesticide contaminants that may impact human health and safety.

Cannabis has long been grown with the help of pesticides, especially as it is sensitive to moisture and mold. In addition, hemp is a bio-remediation crop, which means it cleans the soil from harmful pesticides, herbicides and heavy metals.

The use of pesticides used on food is regulated using maximum residue levels (MRL’s). These are the maximum levels of pesticide residue that may remain in a food following correct use of pesticide product in line with Good Agricultural Practice (GAP).

Whilst reputable growers of hemp follow environmental guidelines, there is still the potential for hemp crops to become contaminated. For these reasons it is important CBD products are screened for pesticides that can be harmful if ingested over long periods above certain tolerance levels.
