Terpenes profiling
Terpenes profiling
Terpenes profiling and characterisation is used to indicate the quality of a cannabis plant. Terpenes are natural, organic compounds found in all plants, produced as a defence mechanism to deter predators or to attract pollinating insects. They play an important role in the aroma and flavour of a plant. Terpenes potentially work in synergy with cannabinoids and other cannabis plant compounds to affect the potency of CBD, and other cannabinoids, without increasing the dose. They may also produce ‘the entourage’ effect. There can be more than 400 terpenes in a cannabis plant, dependent on the cannabis species.
